COVID-19 UPDATE - SPRING AND SUMMER 2020 ACTIVITIES CANCELLATION

In order to ensure the safety and security of our people, and reduce the possibility of further transmission of COVID-19 the Comd Natl CJCR Sp Gp has made the difficult decision to cancel all summer activities related to the Cadets. The cancellation of activities has been extended until the 31 Aug 2020.

Cadets will not be penalized for missing the remainder of the 2019-2020 training year, and will be credited as having this year’s training completed. Our goal over the coming months is to focus and remain connected with the cadets. The corps will be seeking to implement where possible innovative and meaningful ways to connect virtually. Maintaining the link with our cadets and staff is a priority.

For more information follow the following links:

We understand this may not be what many of us hoped for but we along with all Canadians are being asked to step up and united, fight against the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing to protect everyone.

The unit will be rolling out an online training plan geared at keeping cadets engaged and most importantly virtually socializing with each other. A lot of our daily lives and routines may have changed but what doesn’t have to change are the friendships and connections we have built in this program. Lets work together and engage in online activities as we move forward through these challenging times.

COVID-19 UPDATE - CANCELLATIONS AND POSTPONEMENTS FOR 2020

We have received new information from the Region as to what the cadet program is doing moving forward for the next month. Here are the major points that need to be highlighted:

  1. All cadet activities, including local training are cancelled until 30 April 2020. The next update as to whether the cancellation will be extended beyond that date is expected to issue on Thursday, 23 April 2020. In addition, all cadet outbound international exchanges / training opportunities and recreational trips are also cancelled through to the end August 2020. If you have any cadets who were selected for Army Cadet Rifle Team, Maple Leaf Exchange, Voyage through History, all international Sea and Air cadet exchanges, please ensure that they are made aware of this cancellation.

  2. Regional Marksmanship Competition (at a later date there may be a possibility that this could be conducted as a postal shoot – this has not been confirmed at this time).

  3. OSLA Band & Drill competition scheduled for 2 May 2020 has been postponed at this time, with no new date identified at this time, as this decision will be made once a decision is made with respect to the current stand down beyond 30 April 2020).

  4. Engagement with Staff / Cadets - Corps / Sqns are encouraged to continue to engage their staff and cadets through remote / virtual means to maintain a link to the cadet program. The Staff team has been brainstorming ideas to keep you, the cadets, engaged. To be Continue !!!

Last point I wanted to make is let’s remember that we are trying to make the best out of a bad situation. If you have any suggestions of activities, I am more then willing to listen. Let’s keep in touch during these crazy times.
